Taniela (Nela) is a young man, 23 years of age of Tongan background. Nela is an admirable young man who works to assist young people to access accommodation, employment, crisis management, develop strategy to overcome homelessness and appropriate responses to at risk youth.
Working across the Bankstown, Mt Druitt and Blacktown regions, he works with some of the most marginalised youth from culturally diverse backgrounds and socio economic groups that struggle to manage. He is making huge inroads with young people with disability in the Mt Druitt region through his innovative approach to disability and young people.
Sayed Musavie Open or Close
Sayed Musavie is an extraordinary youth leader. He first contacted Community MRC (CMRC) as a member of a local Afghan Hazara soccer team. After a meeting was arranged, Sayed was signed up to the organisation’s Intern program.
Sayed immediately showed initiative and insight about issues relating to young people in his community. Sayed was assigned two projects to work on - South Asian Cup Football Tournament and Seeing Summer! For both, he provided cultural and communication support over a five month period.
Shawn Spina Open or Close
Shawn's contribution as a volunteer and leader have been recognised on multiple occasions by Fairfield City Council including a 2014 Australia Day Awards Medal. Shawn is a great example of someone who is able to apply their skills in photography and filmmaking to have their say, and make the community a better place through digital storytelling.
In 2015 Shawn Spina has flourished as a young leader and a role model within his capacity as a Fairfield Youth Advisory Council (YAC) member and Curious Works Creator.
