Below are our nominees for the 2017 ZEST Award for Exceptional Social Enterprise in GWS:
Clean Force – Winner
Operating as a not-for-profit social enterprise, Clean Force is a high quality commercial cleaning and grounds maintenance business where all profits are reinvested into providing employment and training for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The majority of Clean Force team members experience a learning difficulty, intellectual disability or a psychological illness providing each employee with supervision and training appropriate to his or her ability and personal needs. Clean Force established an office in Parramatta at the beginning of 2016 and has already grown to service 52 sites.
Darcy St Project
Darcy St Project is a social enterprise coffee shop and coffee school providing practical industry experience and training to students from all backgrounds to become job ready. Most employers want someone with a bit of experience but how can you get experience if no one will give you a job? Darcy St Project helps educate and empower students to gain experience and enter the workforce with confidence.
Over 30 young students have successfully completed workshops and are now in study or employment. Darcy St Project has provided an outstanding service to the youth and young migrant residents of Auburn.
Inspired by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) reform, Pnyx focusses on the principle of person-centred care involving social, cultural and individual identity as well as physical care providing an internet-based collaboration platform and person-centred case management system.
Leveraging the latest technological developments including cloud computing and social communication tools, Pnyx provides a cost-effective solution for community healthcare service providers. It enables choice allowing staff and clients to control, update and view their own details, promoting enhanced collaboration and communication within and across service organisations and interdisciplinary providers of community care.
